Scientist Gets Rid of Mice with Bird-X Electronic Devices
Bird-X ultrasonic devices repel mice with 100% efficacy in peer-reviewed study. Wildlife biologist Dr. Philip Whitford tests Transonic PRO and Yard Gard over a two-year period at his Wisconsin farmhouse, observing total eviction of pest mice.
Dr. Philip Whitford knows mice. As a wildlife biologist, researcher and an expert in animal behavior he has caught somewhere between 600 and 800 mice at his Wisconsin farmhouse over the past 42 years. In this particular study, he tests Bird-X ultrasonic devices – Transonic PRO and Yard Gard – and records 100% efficacy for both units for the areas tested.
The study occurred over a two-year period where Dr. Whitford compared the number of mice captured, the number of droppings found and the number of tomatoes damaged to determine the efficacy of these two products: Bird-X Transonic PRO and Yard Gard. Transonic PRO was tested inside Dr. Whitford’s farmhouse which included the basement stairs, hallway, kitchen and basement (roughly 440 sq ft.). Yard Gard was tested in his garden outside the farmhouse (roughly 2,000 sq ft.).
Transonic PRO is a low-profile electronic pest repeller that uses both sonic (audible) and ultrasonic (silent-to-humans) sound waves to keep small pests out of indoor or semi-enclosed spaces.
Four-month testing period with unit ON:
August 2, 2009 – December 5, 2009
Zero mice were trapped and zero droppings were found.
Four-month testing period with unit OFF:
August 2, 2010 – December 5, 2010
32 mice were trapped and 67 droppings were found.
For Transonic PRO, Dr. Whitford concluded that the efficacy of the unit in this test was 100% for the areas tested. There was no question that the mice perceived the sounds generated and responded to them by completely avoiding the area.
Yard Gard is a discreet ultrasonic (silent-to-humans) pest repeller that keeps large and small pest animals away from small outdoor areas.
Three-week testing period with unit OFF:
August 11, 2009 – September 1, 2009
Approximately 6-8 tomatoes were damaged each night.
Three-week testing period with unit ON:
September 2, 2009 – September 28, 2009
Zero tomatoes were damaged.
For Yard Gard, it was determined that the efficacy was 100% at reducing crop damage in the test area for the duration of the test.
This study was peer reviewed and presented by Dr. Philip Whitford at the 14th Wildlife Damage Management Conference, Nebraska City. Click here to read the full research report or download the illustrated poster for more details.
Both Transonic PRO and Yard Gard are humane, non-toxic solutions to pest problems. These devices are also safe to use around children and pets. To find out more about Bird-X pest control products visit http://www.bird-x.com.
