Instructions

Abode Reader Bird Proof is a long lasting, non-poisonous, tacky bird repellent for use on ledges, sills, beams, rafters and hundreds of other indoor and outdoor locations where "nuisance birds" alight or roost. When applied according to instructions, Bird Proof repellent is transparent and can effectively discourage pigeons, starlings, house sparrows and certain other nuisance birds from roosting on or returning to a treated area for up to one year.
BIRD PROOF LIQUID
This is similar to gel. It is opaque white when first applied, and rapidly dries to a transparent, colorless film. Spray or paint onto various surfaces giving broad coverage compared with the beads of the gel.
Brush onto the top surface to be treated or apply by sprayer. Hand pumped sprayers or mechanical equipment may be used with a discharge pressure of 40 to 50 p.s.i. Do not dilute the liquid; thoroughly shake or mix it prior to use. Surfaces to be treated must be clean, free of dust, and dry. Use any spray equipment with generated pressure up to 150 p.s.i. for application; aerial application is not permitted.
For interior use, treat beams girders, struts, supports, pipes, etc. and anywhere birds may land or roost Cover machinery, floors, etc. to prevent spray drift or runoff from failing on them during application. Liquid should be applied as a continuous layer on the top surface of the structure being treated. For larger birds, e.g.. pigeons and starlings, more than one application may be necessary to create a thick enough layer for the repellent to be most effective.
For exterior use, liquid is not recommended for application to outside buildings or structures due to the difficulty in controlling spray drip and runoff and the possibility of stain. The difficulties in removing the material from extensive treated surfaces also restrict exterior structure applications. Treat trees, bushes, shrubs and vines etc.. Apply liquid to the point of runoff to the top of all branches large enough to support a bird. Again, cover or otherwise protect all exposed areas not to be treated to avoid spray drift and runoff causing damage. Treat living plants only during dormant period. Application to foliage may result in the blocking of respiration and death of the affected foliage might occur. In severe cases the whole plant may die. Bird Proof Liquid contains no toxic materials to plants or animals, but the Bird Proof itself can physically block and prevent respiration.
Spray when temperatures are at least 40ºF in calm weather to facilitate drying, and to minimize spray drift.
Calculating Your Bird Proof Liquid Needs:
Coverage is dependent on the object being treated and the spray equipment. Generally one gallon of liquid will treat an average tree with a 5" diameter trunk or approximately 6 three-foot high shrubs. One gallon will also cover approximately 125 square feet of a surface. The approximation should be used only as guidelines.
Removal of Bird Proof Use B-X SAFETY SOLVENT CLEANER, mineral spirits, naphtha or powder types cleaning agents to clean Bird Proof. Spills may be washed off with water if cleaned immediately.
Note: Do not spray directly on birds. Do not apply at locations where the user has concern that desirable birds or protected birds may become entangled in the film. Avoid contamination of food or livestock feed.

Beating the birds

"It was like sitting in a chicken coop," says Will Kramer. Kramer is Maintenance Supervisor for Griffin Corporation in Casa Grande, Arizona, about 45 miles south of Phoenix. Problem pigeons had invaded the company's main building complex. They were roosting near the main entrance, where Griffin employees entered every day, and near the water cooler in the bagging station area of the attached warehouse. "It was a huge mess," Kramer summarizes, "and it had been going on forever." Open Rafters Attract Dirty Birds When Kramer was promoted to Maintenance Supervisor a year and a half ago, he was asked by the Operations Manager to take care of the pigeon problem.

Bird Repellent Proves to be an Effective Deterrent to Pigeons

How many ways can common birds degrade construction? Too many -- and Barry Schader has experienced most of them. Barry runs Tischler Brothers, a general construction firm specializing in roofing and waterproofing for commercial and residential buildings, including private homes, schools and apartment buildings. Over the years, Barry has seen -- up close and in person -- the destruction caused by birds.

Blasting Off a Pesky Problem: A Humane Solution to Shoo Away Birds

Not every problem facing the aerospace industry is a high-tech one. Some are low-tech, down and dirty. Just ask Dallas Jones, Manager of Construction for the Space Division of Thiokol Corporation. His problem was birds. Thiokol is a giant in the aerospace industry. It builds booster rockets for NASA's space shuttle and makes the Peacekeeper ICBM for the U.S. Air Force, among other activities. The Thiokol plant in Brigham City, Utah, covers 75 square acres and includes 410 buildings. Dallas's problem resided in building A-2, a main administration building.

Prevent pigeon roosting problems on roofs with gel bird repellent

Whew - what a mess we had with pigeons! There were two spots that were especially pleasing to these creatures..Both under the upstairs eaves, where two different roof lines meet.. It was almost impossible to get up there, so, as you can see in the attached photo my Hubby came up with the idea of putting the Bird Proof on a roller attached to a telescoping rod - leaning out the window and applying the Bird Proof that way.. The neighbors thought we had lost our minds - but boy did that stuff work!! Before Bird X we had at least 40 - 50 pigeons on our roof every day and night - now - ZERO !!!!!!!!!!

Control bird problems with a transparent gel repellent

I just wanted to let you know about your product's effectiveness around our house. For the past 7 years (during May and early June as the weather warms dramatically in our area of California) due to our house's high roofline we have been inundated with swallows. And are they messy ! We tried scare devices, vinegar, water spray, etc. Nothing seemed to stop those birds. They are relentless in their desire to roost under our eaves where they can build nests between the stucco and eaves.

Pretty much our last hope was your Bird-X Bird Repellant in 10 oz cartridges.

In April we had our trusted painter apply about a 3/16" strip along the stucco, just under the eaves all the way around the house. Around May 1 some waves of swallows showed up but did not even leave so much as a spot of mud. Since then we have seen a few fly by, but as soon as they are close to the eaves they leave.

Thank you for providing a product that really does the job, and saves me from the job of cleaning up after our feathered friends.
